Welcome to the Pursue You Podcast, where we are empowering you to continually reflect, design and pursue who you were created to be so you can give the gift of your best self to your family, community, and business!

Today’s episode is inspired by a bike ride I took last week and seemed so fitting to share because of where we are in the world today. Long story short, a trip outside to the snow with my daughter evolved into a brisk jog up a main road while she biked alongside me…all because of a few small decisions! The message: Every small decision we make is powerful. Every accomplishment or achievement is a result of a series of smaller choices. As we are in quarantine, we are all feeling different things- grief, fear, anxiety. It doesn’t matter where you are, I ask you to be OK with wherever you are.

What has happened this last month has changed us. It has impacted our habits. It has impacted us emotionally. We need to ask ourselves:

1) What have I learned from this?
2) Where do I want to go from here?

There are some that want to change a lot about themselves and their lives after this quarantine ends. Some, like me, might appreciate the habits and life I lived before. And I look forward to get back to that. Our habits have been disrupted and we need to start turning to make a simple action and I encourage you to START SMALL. Small is powerful. Small will help you accomplish big things.

No small action will make a difference on it’s own. But, it will set you up to take the next small step….and the next step. When we take smalls steps, they are less intimidating. And when they are less intimidating, you are more likely to do it. John Maxwell discusses the power of compounding. He discusses the repetitive nature of small things that eventually lead to a radical change. These changes might happen over years or decades. But pursuing you is not so that you can be better within the next hour or day. It is a process over and over that is so important. It is the constant consistent progress that brings confidence. That brings joy. That inspires us to want to continue that small but mighty progress.

Every day you are compounding. You are making small decisions that are getting you closer to your goals, or small decisions that bring you further away from your goals. Everything out there is either growing or dying- businesses, relationships, and even yourself. Show yourself some grace. Cut yourself some slack. We can have times when we are not growing. But, ask yourself: The majority of your day, “What are your habits leading you towards? Are you compounding towards your goal or away from your goal?” So, I ask: What small thing can you do today to move you closer to growth, closer to your goal. If it intimidates you too much, go smaller! There is no action too small when you have compounding on your side. Every decision you make is powerful.
