Welcome to the Pursue You Podcast, where we are empowering you to continually reflect, design and pursue who you were created to be so you can give the gift of your best self to your family, community, and business!

Today we are talking about the pace of your life. The impact pace has on my life is astounding. When my life and my business are at a sustainable pace and are aligned, I can feel the synergy and balance. I am sharing how we can be intentional about our pace.

[4:09] Michael Todd said, “The pace of grace.” You are moving at an optimal pace for your body while doing the work you are called to be doing. How do we find our pace, carry it out and maintain it? I share 3 keys.

[4:56] Whether it is nature or nurture, we all have our notions of what pace is right for us. That mindset is what we feel inside of us, that sometimes drives us without us recognizing it. I have always moved so quickly, unable to stop. I found so much success in my early life when I never rested. I learned a lot from it, too. I learned what I could handle, how being constantly on-the-go affected my family, etc. There is not a right or wrong pace, but a pace that is right for you. The key is being intentional and confident about your pace.

[9:39] The second key is scheduling. “In the rush to return to normal, use this time to consider which parts of normal are worth rushing back to.” In other words, what are we putting back on our plate? In a business setting, we are more aware of what meetings are important and what aren’t? We are finding that we are missing the connections with our teams because we aren’t talking as much as we used to. We aren’t having as many non-business conversations.

[14:13] I discuss the personal side of scheduling. I share how I had a difficult time attending evening events because I preferred to be home with my family then. During quarantine I enjoyed the quiet during that time of the day and it is something I will consider when scheduling in the future. Your schedule will dictate the pace of your life.

[16:45] Habits is the 3rd key I discuss. I share how I began to put everything into my calendar that I was going to do over the course of the day. I noticed having a plan/discipline allowed me to operate at the pace I want to. I ask you to consider where are you finding yourself wasting time? It is important to recognize these habits you do not want to let back in.

Our pace must align with who we are. The more our pace aligns with the life we want to live, the more we can be intentional about our life. Being in control of your pace is what we are craving.
